Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, extending the vendor's capabilities across the carrier's domestic and international cargo operations.
IBS Software said the implementation would support PAL's modernisation programme with capabilities covering its full range of business functions. On the cargo side, that includes international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement and regulatory compliance, alongside domestic cargo movements.
According to the vendor, iCargo already supports carriers with the same combination of demands, providing the flexibility, scale and capability to manage both domestic and international flows.
Operational focus
PAL expects the transition to address key operational requirements in its cargo business, including system performance and data analytics. The platform is intended to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention and making processes more efficient.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the airline's cargo business. He said PAL needs a system that increases visibility and improves operational efficiency as it grows across its domestic and international network, and that iCargo is seen as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
The value of the agreement and the implementation timeline were not disclosed.
